Transforming Our Nursery Closet with Modular Closet into a Functional, Stylish Upgrade for Growing Kids
When we first started setting up Miles’ nursery, the closet was about as basic as it gets, just plain white melamine shelving. It worked fine for the moment, but I knew it wasn’t going to keep up with us long term, especially as Miles grows and his needs change. I wanted a space that was both functional and beautiful, something that would help us stay organized during these early years and continue to adapt as he gets older.
That’s why I partnered with Modular Closets to create a custom closet designed exactly for our nursery. From the very beginning, I loved the idea of tailoring the closet to fit our storage needs, instead of trying to make a one-size-fits-all solution work.
We chose a mix of drawers, double hanging rods, and open shelving. The drawers are perfect for folded clothes, blankets, and little essentials. The double hanging spaces give us room for all of Miles’ clothes now, while leaving flexibility for bigger sizes down the road. The open shelves are my favorite feature, because they not only add storage versatility, they also give me a place to style baskets and display sweet little baby items.
For the finish, we went with their oak option paired with sleek black hardware. The combination feels warm and modern, a big upgrade from our builder-basic setup. To make the closet even more practical, we added a few woven baskets from Target and rechargeable under-cabinet lighting tucked under the shelves. The lighting was such an easy addition but makes a huge difference for late-night outfit changes or when I’m grabbing something quickly.
What I love most is how the closet feels designed for now and later. It works perfectly for a nursery but has the storage versatility to transition into a big-kid space as Miles grows.
If you’ve ever felt like your closets aren’t pulling their weight, I can’t recommend Modular Closets enough. The process of customizing and installing was simple, and the result is a closet that’s not only functional but also feels like a thoughtful extension of the nursery.
